SPEAKER_01

The babies got drafted last night. They were pretty and they are paid. Who won the draft? Let's talk about it. Welcome back to the Mid Majors podcast where the real hoop talk happens, unfiltered and unapologetic. I am one of your hosts, Takara, and with me I got my girl Courtney, and we are the Mid-Majors. We are diving into uh WNBA draft, the recap, talking about a few things about how we felt about last night. Um, if you're new here, go ahead and subscribe. We are super, super close to 5,000. So help get us there. Go buy you some merch too as well. Make sure you go like the video too as well. But um, let's get into it. So the WNBA draft was last night, AZ Foot went number one. Um, I'm happy for the babies. Um the babies is getting paid, okay? This draft was unpredictable. I would agree. It was unpredictable.

SPEAKER_04

Um do you have the list pulled up?

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, I'm about to, yep, yep. I got you. You want to send it to me? I got you. Yeah, send it to me. I got you. You're talking about the board, right? Yeah. Of who went where? Yep, I got you. And I'm gonna pull it up on the screen too. Okay. So we got the draft board pulled up for you guys. Like I said, AZ went number one. Mm-hmm. So Minnesota got Olivia Miles. Olivia Miles, she's they had like I said, they had talked about her possibly going number one anyway. She's somebody who you just couldn't let get away. Yeah. Like, just she has so much talent. Like, I think it's gonna be a bright future with her when it comes to her on Minnesota. Now, I have the free agency. Well, we'll have to later on, probably tomorrow, we'll have to do another free agency.

SPEAKER_04

Let's yeah, we'll talk about that. With the draft picks, yeah. And see how that allows.

SPEAKER_01

Because uh, we're those are all still happening. Because I wanna say, because I just got some updates on a few people too as well, and I have a list, an updated list, so I gotta shovel through that. But um Minnesota, she's gonna be she's gonna do well.

SPEAKER_04

Yeah, I understand.

SPEAKER_01

She's gonna they so is Fee out for half the season? Do we know? I'm not sure. Cause sis still on the little scooter. So we'll see.

SPEAKER_04

Yeah, I'm not sure. What pick shocked you the most? I'll be honest. Hot case going five. Yeah. That shocked me. People was tight about that. Uh uh, that shocked me. Um, what else shocked me? I was shocked about um Latson.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah.

SPEAKER_04

Dropping. Um the way she did. If we're talking about first round, um dang it, does it does it show it show it shows all of them, right? Or just first round?

SPEAKER_01

You have to go to the top and it says round two, round three if you want to see the rest.

SPEAKER_04

Yeah. Okay. Um, I mean, you know what else? I so maybe maybe it's because I just haven't watched UCLA like that.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah.

SPEAKER_04

But I don't think the Charlese Ledger Walker, and I probably didn't say that last name, right? How she got drafted over Tania. Yeah.

SPEAKER_01

I I don't agree with that. Well, how tall is she? I think she might be a she 5'10. Maybe it could be the size. She can shoot the ball. I mean, she had a pretty good tournament too. I mean, she shoots 39%. So, I mean, the Lats and one, so let's talk, let's let's talk about that. Because the question was again, and we'll ask it, because I got asked this question again this morning. Do we feel like that hurt her going from Florida State going to South Carolina? Do we feel like that hurt her dress not? I mean, I guess people can say that.

SPEAKER_04

Um, I don't know. I don't know. I think I think it's I think it's Latin's size that hurts her. I don't think it was her going to South Carolina. I think it's her size. If anything, I feel like I mean, I guess you can look at it that way. I feel like her going to the SEC, going to South Carolina, I feel like her size was definitely highlighted this season.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah.

SPEAKER_04

Um I don't want to call it a weakness because you don't help that. You can't help that. Yeah. But it was something to where it was like, oh, okay. Like she struggles to get the ball off of these like bigger post players. You know what I mean? And we always talked about it this uh previous season where we were just like, man, she gotta pull up earlier. Yeah. She has to pull up earlier. She's getting too deep, man. She's getting too deep down there. Like that that that you could get off at Florida State, yeah, it ain't the same here.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah.

SPEAKER_04

You get what I'm saying? So you gotta work on that pull-up shot. Um, I think I think Latson is an unbelievable talent.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah.

SPEAKER_04

And I think she may surprise some people. I think she played in a system with South Carolina.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah.

SPEAKER_04

I don't think we got to see full on Latson like we got to see at Florida State, right? But we see that all the time, right? We talk about Science Centron, right? Yeah. I thought Science Centron was great at Notre Dame, but I had no idea she was that she was bad like that. Yeah, yeah. Do you get what I'm saying? Yeah, but she was playing in a system. Yeah. And and where they needed her and and what her role was on that team. Yeah. So for me, it's kind of like that situation where it's like, I I'm hoping that once she gets to the league, she could just like she could just play.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah.

SPEAKER_04

You know what I'm saying? Um and and do what she does best. Um, so I mean, I if if you want to say it did, because it did highlight her her height, that height difference. Yeah. Um, and it's not like she was beating them off of physicality. Right. Right. When like she was this super strong guard. Right. Um, it wasn't like she took a lot of threes, right? Where we can say, like, oh, that too. You know, she's a great shooter from beyond the arc. So the only thing I really saw from, like, she can knock down the three, she don't take a lot of them. Right. So, I mean, I don't know. I don't want to say it hurt her draft stock. Because sometimes I think some people go to these places. It's a networking thing, too. Yeah. Heck, I'm trying to be with with Yukon's girls. They're gonna look out for them Yukon girls. Facts. Right? They're gonna look out for them South Carolina girls. Facts. You know what I mean? Um, so so I don't know.

SPEAKER_01

She got, she can learn a lot. Like, you know, if you think about Kelsey Plum, her being in LA, Kelsey Plum, she could really go under her wing and learn a lot from her and learn how to work out. But you know, a player that I think of, if I think about a comparison of like, who could Latson kind of be like, or is she as good at you know who I'm thinking about? Dana Evans.

SPEAKER_04

Oh, okay.

SPEAKER_01

So, and I asked myself, was it was Latson as good? If we go off this year, I'm I'll go off this year, if Florida State so we saw more. What and think about it, well, I guess it could be the same. Can you think about Florida State? Is then ACC, Dana Evans played at Louisville? Is she as good as Dana Evans? Is what I was asking myself. And I'm like, if you think about Dana Evans now in the league, Dana Evans was an amazing role player for the Aces. She shot the hell out the ball. She always could shoot the three.

SPEAKER_03

Yeah.

SPEAKER_01

So it's like, I think that Dana has more of that to her game. Because I I let me tell you something. I've watched Dana, and I'm gonna go ahead and say this too. I felt like Haley Van Lyff looked different when Dana Evans was gone from Louisville. I said what I said.

SPEAKER_03

Yeah.

SPEAKER_01

I felt like I've seen Dana when she played at Louisville, that's a dog. That's a game over. I'm gonna hit a big shot. Just like the stuff she was doing with the aces in the in the in the finals. She was doing that at Louisville.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah.

SPEAKER_01

So it's like, that's the one I'm thinking of. Like, what could she be that for 18? But it's like, I like the opportunity that she has at LA. Like, you know what I'm saying? Of learning and good bets and, you know, could play her way to a spot. You know, now they put a little sauce on her. They say she averaged 20 points a game. They put a little sauce on it. You know how the scout report?

SPEAKER_00

Yeah.

SPEAKER_01

I was 5'9 and I'm 5'6. They put a little, they put a little sauce on it with that one. I'll tell you the pick that I do love. If we go back to the first round.

SPEAKER_03

First round, okay.

SPEAKER_01

I I love the Hakes. People, people was asking me all day, like, how do you feel about her being a five? If you think about the team that Chicago has just put together, what she can bring to that team, be scrappy, make some shots, get some rebounds, get some hustle plays. I like that for Chicago. I I felt I like it. They pieced some stuff together, honey.

SPEAKER_04

They did piece some stuff together.

SPEAKER_01

Some good. Absolutely. Um who won the draft? Who won the draft? That's a great thing. It gotta be Washington. Oh, yeah. It gotta be Washington.

SPEAKER_04

Why did I think about that? Yeah, I mean. I forgot that fast. Uh, yes, no, Washington, hands down, because we were talking about a trip to go watch the Washington Mystics.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah. Play. Yeah. But you know what though? If you, you know, people want to talk mess about what Chicago just did as far as what they gave up for Angel Reese for the 27, 20, 27, and 28 picks. That stuff worked out for Washington, if you think about it, with it with this draft. You know what I'm saying? That the long game worked out for him, I think. So I'm excited to see them. You got Cody, you got Angela. Uh shit, who else? You got Lauren Betts.

SPEAKER_04

I mean Lauren Betts, you got uh Science Centron, you got Kiki Erfing, you got Sakira Austin. They gonna be young and hungry. You got Cody McMahon. Like, you literally have your six six-man rotation.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah.

SPEAKER_04

You know what I'm saying? Your six, seven-man rotation. So, yeah, I I agree with that. Absolutely. I think they absolutely won the draft.

SPEAKER_01

They gonna have some good competition, like as far as like training camp. Yeah.

SPEAKER_04

Prosper? I don't know. I I still I'm still on the fence about hotest. Are you? I mean, I understand what you're saying, but she could have been interchangeable. What I'm saying is you think so? What I'm saying is that I mean, what what are what why why was it that you felt they recruited her to Chicago again?

SPEAKER_01

So from what I saw with her, and just like I said, like she's a scrappy player. Like I said, she can rebound the hill. She does all the little stuff that you need to win a game. If you think about what she did against Texas, she was she had 21 points. Now, who was it? No, who South Carolina. 21 points. I didn't expect her to come score like that. She, I feel like she's gonna be like that. Okay. She's a role player. Molly Hetty on our team. Like I said, if I think about a role player, somebody who's like what that means to me. Somebody who can get a big big steal, somebody who can get a big charge, somebody who can get a stop on defense, somebody who can make a big shot, somebody who can defend, somebody who can be physical. I I like her for that team. You got Skylar Diggins who's there. You've got Elizabeth Williams, you got Rakia Jackson. You got like a lot of, you know, Skylar's scrappy. Rakia Jackson, she's scrappy. I feel like she fits well with this system. I feel like she's gonna fit good. As Ray, I feel like they got a good, she fits that team. They're gonna work hard.

SPEAKER_04

Like that's what I was saying. Like, you feel like she's a good role player.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, oh yeah, no. I ain't saying that's spectacular. I'm saying, like, addition to come in if she comes in off the bench, you know, whatever she does, you know, whatever the case.

SPEAKER_04

That makes sense because with all the people that Chicago has signed with Dijanae Carrington, yeah, Dijana Deggins, Rakia Jackson, it seems like they're being intentional about who they like what they're trying to rebuild there. Yeah.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah.

SPEAKER_04

Um, so I agree with you. I think Hakes was a great choice for what Chicago needed at the time. Because it's all about what? And and they and they led with that. Yes. And not like I could get Vlager, I can get, you know, anybody else. Yes. You get what I'm saying?

SPEAKER_01

They took the unpopular pick.

SPEAKER_04

They did, and I think that's what it is.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah. So, because if you think about, like, as far as let me see. I don't think that what we talk about roles. I don't think that she's gonna be to come there and be expected to score. Like, she, you know what I'm saying? Like, she's not expected to do a whole bunch of roles. Now, I tell you, because there's a couple people on Chicago, she's gonna take their minutes.

SPEAKER_03

Yeah, for sure.

SPEAKER_01

A couple of them who've been there. The the minutes is gone. For sure. I mean, then like JC Shelton. JC Shelton works hard. She does. So I mean, with that, I think I like that with them.

SPEAKER_04

Okay. Yeah. I'm not mad at that. That makes sense. So you made me a believer.

SPEAKER_01

Okay. Thank you.

SPEAKER_04

And they got Latasha Lattimore. That's a great pickup.

SPEAKER_01

I mean, this play, it's like the same players are kind of fitting together. You know what I'm saying? Like, I'll be able to, I'll be able to explain it more when we see them playing the game, and I'll be able to break it down.

SPEAKER_04

If we had to pick who won free agency, it's the Chicago Sky.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah.

SPEAKER_04

So far.

SPEAKER_01

All the reasons. But it's hard to, because I mean, people can say what they want to say about Sat Too. I like Sat Two to the Liberty. I said it. I like it. Um, I do wish I said, I wish they would have got. Hopefully they can get Natasha Cloud. She still hasn't signed. Um, but from coming from, I'ma say they won too, just from like what it was looking like, the mess that we just saw, and then what they brought in, they bounced back. So we can't be mad about that. So let's talk about the South Carolina fans being mad about Raven Johnson going to Indiana. They mad about that? They mad about it. A couple of them are. Y'all let us know in the comments. Um, y'all, sometimes now, Stephanie White, they say Stephanie White love Raven. Love Ravens game. Because you know it's the whole the irony of her going to the team with the Caitlin Clark waving around. You know what I'm saying? All that.

SPEAKER_04

For me, I'm more excited about her playing with Aaliyah Boston again. So y'all worried about Caitlin Clark. I'm I'm like, hey, she's playing with Aaliy Boston. They worried about the culture.

SPEAKER_01

They're worried about the culture of, you know, the C the CCC. You know how it goes. They're worried about the culture of that, because the, you know, I mean, I'm just gonna say it like it is. About as far as their fans, how their friends treat people, apparently.

SPEAKER_04

How their fans treat people. Yes.

SPEAKER_01

They're worried about that environment. To me, honestly, this is if y'all don't come together, you get what I'm saying?

SPEAKER_04

I think, but see, I don't think that's a team issue. I think that's a fan issue. I don't think, I don't, yeah. What I'm saying is I don't think I don't know, but I don't think that what's going on around does anything to the core group of the team.

SPEAKER_01

I mean, clearly they made it far.

SPEAKER_04

I mean, you know, um I think if we being honest, everybody's a grown adults. Exactly. If we're on that team, Caitlin knows what's up. She knows she's not gonna say nothing about it because she can't say nothing about it, right? Right. And on the other side, we know what's up about it. Right. Right? We see what's going on, but this is all we care about right here. Exactly. This is all we care about right here. I can't we can't worry about what's going on on the outside, right? Like, I love you, you love me, you my teammate, and and and that's how we rockin'. Yeah. I think Caitlin Clark is gonna be a great teammate with Raven. So that's another thing too.

SPEAKER_01

I hate to stop you. So you know how people, I'm just not the type of person who notices stuff until somebody points it out to me. You get what I'm saying? Because it's like I just don't be like, when it be like little stuff, like I said, oh, you was mad about that. I'm not I'm not easily offended, if it makes sense. I'm I nothing really offends me. Like, I don't get offended, and that's probably why I offend people all the time. Because, you know, it if I'm calling it what it is, that's probably why I be offending people because I'm not offended. You know, you people get offended by me all the time. But anyway, so like somebody had made like a clip or something like that of saying how Caitlin didn't like post her or something or post the new players on Instagram. And it's just like for me, I'm like, does sis even run her own Instagram for real for real at this point? Like, you know, it's like that's what I'm thinking. Like, does she run her own? Does she even run her on Instagram?

SPEAKER_04

Or but you know what? You talked about this before, and it's like, y'all, the players like each other. The players like each other, they don't have that same disdain, disdain that like the fans have. Like, you get what I'm saying?

SPEAKER_02

Yeah.

SPEAKER_04

What Caitlin did, that was a competitive thing. Yeah. There's there's been plenty of times I've had games where I'm like, bro, I'm about to leave you open. You shoot that three all day.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah.

SPEAKER_04

I mean, that that's what happens in basketball. Like, you get what I'm saying? Yeah. I don't think Caitlin was doing it to be disrespectful. I think in the time, it's like, girl, hey, you shoot it. That was a good one. We're gonna take that all day. But what did Raven do?

SPEAKER_01

She bounced to me, that was the turning point of her career. Sith got in the gym. Sith walked with a trainer.

SPEAKER_04

She took it personal as she should have. Yes. And got in the gym, right? Yeah. Raven is still a winner at the end of the day. She's a point guard that knows how to win. Um, so like I said before with the Indiana Fever, they they I I didn't see anything about them signing uh RA back. I think. Anything about Odyssey coming back. So there is an opportunity for her there. I agree. To be that guard. And a defender. And a defender. So um I'm not mad at that at all. And the one thing Raven's gonna do is she's gonna find Caitlin.

unknown

Period.

SPEAKER_04

She's gonna find Kelsey and she's gonna find Aaliyah. And that's a chemistry that she has with Aaliyah that you can't like really replicate other places, right? Because she's played with Aaliyah before.

SPEAKER_01

She's ready to see how the rotation works over there. For what? For what you mean? Just with that. I'm ready to see how it plays out as far as the rotation wise. But all of that to say, it's like, but that was more of like a I've been like in Facebook groups, because you know I'll be like in Facebook groups, just see what the folks are saying. It's like some people like been so over. I'm like, child, if we don't move on, like, baby, at the end of the day, what let's celebrate the fact that the babies is in the league and they getting money. Like, let's let it go.

SPEAKER_03

That was a great pickup for Indiana.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, like let's let it go. So it's like, is that to me, it's like it's not that easy. But like I said, I'm not offended. Like, I nothing offends me. So I'm just like, it's not that easy. Let's move on. But anyway, so yes, let's be happy for the babies. I'm excited to see her there. I like oak I love the Oakot at the dream. She got opportunity.

SPEAKER_04

Yeah, absolutely.

SPEAKER_01

Mayor shocked the hell out of me, honey.

SPEAKER_04

Yes, yes.

SPEAKER_01

Mayor shocked the hell out of me. So Seattle got Schwarez. They got Fla.

SPEAKER_04

They got Awa Fam. Awa Fam. Um Mayor. Mayor, what's what's the young lady's name that could dunk? She's from France, too. Dominique. Dominique. Yes.

SPEAKER_01

So And you still gotta earn your spot at the end of the day. Don't get it twisted, people.

SPEAKER_04

Yeah, you do.

SPEAKER_01

You gotta earn that spot when you get in there. Oh, oh, but I didn't realize Passat got drafted to the fever. Oh, dishy. Yes. Where the hell was I at? We must have been had too much. Well, I think we started talking because Chance Gray went to LA Smart. Shout out to Chance. Passat is at the fever. I I hope, baby, I hope baby get in there and make the team. I wanna see with her size, I wanna see her shine.

SPEAKER_04

She gotta knock down them shots though.

SPEAKER_01

She does. I want to knock down. I want because it's coming. It's coming. And you gotta bury them.

SPEAKER_04

Because if that's your bread and butter is being a shooter, yeah, and nothing else. Not saying it's nothing else, but if I'm a coach and I'm looking at her from previous this previous season, I'm thinking to myself, she's a shooter. That's what I'm recruiting. That's what I'm drafting her for because I have I have my paint covered for the most part.

SPEAKER_01

And they're saying she shoot 40%. If she had, think about if she had like Tessa's knockdown.

SPEAKER_03

Yeah.

SPEAKER_01

If she had like the like Tessa knockdown where Tessa was burying you this year, sis would have been in that first round.

SPEAKER_04

Oh, yeah, for sure.

SPEAKER_01

For sure, if she had um Tiana Key to tempo. Like I said, like I said, babies, they still gotta make the team, honey.

SPEAKER_04

They still gotta make the team, but I'm I'm happy they're doing this expansion teams because I think more of these girls need the chance. So I love that. Exactly. I love that. Um, let's talk about Janaya Barker.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, I was just looking at her. Yes. The draft stock didn't go down this year. But I th I I don't know. Was she ever supposed to be higher than I mean, she went to the ACES. She got definitely gotta come there and work. She got an opportunity though.

SPEAKER_04

But you know what? I'm not I'm not mad at her being a okay. I'm not sure if this is, but wasn't there like there was talk going around about her attitude?

SPEAKER_02

Yeah.

SPEAKER_04

It ain't it ain't gonna be an attitude over there. I don't I don't think that her draft stock dropped because of her play. That I think it dropped because of her attitude.

SPEAKER_02

Gotcha.

SPEAKER_04

Um, I think I love the fact that she's going to Vegas because when you're playing with a goat in Asia Wilson, it makes You want to like step up and you come to practice prepared because she's not gonna demand anything less from you. Okay. Um, so and I think that's a great example of that would be Nylissa Smith.

unknown

Right?

SPEAKER_01

Oh yeah.

SPEAKER_04

It's a great example of that. Yeah, yeah. I love the fact that she's going there.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah.

SPEAKER_04

Um, and even too, look, what was the um young lady's name that was from Alabama last season? Jessica Timmins.

SPEAKER_01

No.

SPEAKER_04

No, no, no, no, no. Last season. Last season. Uh a rookie uh shooter.

SPEAKER_01

Yes. Was it Barker?

unknown

No.

SPEAKER_04

No, was Helen Snick Barker too? But uh I can't think of her name. For who? The Aces, right? She played on the Aces, she came from Alabama. I can't think of her name. But she I think she just got uh I think she just signed to the Valkyries, though, I think now. But she was somebody that when she got drafted, I did I I thought they were gonna wave her like immediately.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah.

SPEAKER_04

Not saying that she wasn't good, but the Aces didn't really need like any people for real, you know, and I thought they that that was gonna be the case because they waived Deja Kelly.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah.

SPEAKER_04

And I'm thinking they were gonna wave her, but no, she was on that team the whole season. Yeah. So getting better.

SPEAKER_01

So Jordan Abby from Kentucky, she going to the Aces too. She got drafted. Round three. Tony Morgan, Z Spearman. What about Rory?

SPEAKER_04

I think Rory is another case of like her size.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah.

SPEAKER_04

I think, and you gotta remember too, Rory doesn't shoot the three for real.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah.

SPEAKER_04

Rory doesn't shoot the three for real. Yeah. Um, she shoots that pull up. Now, is Rory a great leader? Yes. Is Rory going to defend? Yes. Absolutely. Um, but I think they have they have that in the league right now, for the most part. Yeah. It's it's uh not what I'm saying is that what makes you stand apart? Right. You get what I'm saying? Right. Because not everybody can knock down a three-point shot. Right. You might you might you might can make them, but can you be consistent? Consistent with a anybody can hit a wide open three.

SPEAKER_01

And a league, you gotta, you gotta do a little bit more. Exactly. A lot more.

SPEAKER_04

I think for me, I think it's for Rory, I think it is it's her size. And unfortunately, for us mid-majors, we realize that early.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah.

SPEAKER_04

That is something that we realize early. Yeah. Because a lot of the times when you think about a mid-major in these Power Five schools, a lot of the times one of the biggest glaring differences is the height, yeah, the physicality, the muscle, all that. That's the number one thing. Now, it might not be skill. We might have the skill all day. And the athleticism. And the athleticism all day. But it's that height, it's that physicality that these power five schools bank on. And the league. And you can say that with the NBA and the WNBA. Yeah. Right? It's all about that stuff. So unfortunately, you know, that once they leave these power five schools, they're in that position and it sucks.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah.

SPEAKER_04

Right? But I think they just got to work ten times harder to to to get seen, to be noticed, to do whatever. So that for me, for Tania Latson, it's like, girl, you go in there and you show the fuck out. Facts.

SPEAKER_01

If we t if we want to talk about switching schools and hurting a draft stock, I'll tell you one. Two Sarah Williams.

SPEAKER_04

Oh yeah.

SPEAKER_01

She should have gone ahead and went to LSU.

SPEAKER_04

Yeah.

SPEAKER_01

Cause they needed you. You went to Yukon and fell back to the third and didn't win a national championship. I never really think about opportunity, why who why wouldn't you go? Who? It's not a lot of people tell Gino no.

SPEAKER_04

I mean, I mean, yeah, but I don't know.

SPEAKER_01

I I just If I had to say one, it's that one. It's that one.

SPEAKER_04

And no, true. That's true. But see, to me, like, Sarah Williams is another person that's undersized for her position. Like, she's supposed to be a forward, but I don't know. She's 6'4? She don't have the skill. She don't have the. That's what I'm saying. She don't have the I don't know. For me, you 6'4, but you don't necessarily have the physical. No ball handles. The ball handles. No jump shot. No three-point shot. And let's be honest. If you a forward, you gotta be able to do that shit.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah.

SPEAKER_04

If you a forward now, you gotta be able to dribble it, at least handle it a little bit. You gotta be able to at least knock down a mid-range.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah.

SPEAKER_04

You know what I'm saying? And at least be able to take somebody off the dribble.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah.

SPEAKER_01

I'm sorry, but and I'm gonna say it again. I'm saying it again. They bullshitted in this third round because Brooklyn Meyer should have been on this list. If I'm looking. Brooklyn Meyer should have been on the list. Maggie Dugan should have got an opportunity. Them two should have got an opportunity. I'm saying it. I done went on a million rants about it. Because let me tell you why. If you didn't see it on Instagram, this is how I feel. As a mid-major, y'all can say what y'all want to say about mid-majors. Respect the mid-majors, like I always say. You you hear. Respect the mid-majors. So, as a mid-major, your goal is to get to the tournament to do what? Show what you can do to get exposure. Both of them went to the tournament. Now, hold on. What's names won a game in a tournament? Both of them have. Brooklyn's been four years, gave some of your favorite teams the business. Maggies went, gave some of your favorite teams the business. They've shown that they can play against other people. So it's like, I just don't understand. I mean, I I understand. I get it. Right. We're not gonna get the credit that we deserve. You know, I I get that. But it's like when I'm looking at some of these, like I said, at the end of the day, I'm not knocking nobody's opportunity. I'm happy for everybody. Like we I want everybody to win. But I just hate that steadily after we're always, we're always left out. Like, yeah. And it's like with me saying that, it's like with stuff like that happening, mid-majors, we really not gonna have a chance with this portal, bruh. Oh, yeah. We're not gonna stand a chance with it. Because if Brooklyn Meyer would have left and went somewhere else, she would have got paid. And she would have been played better competition. And we probably would have seen her name on the list. So you being, you loyal, that shot you in the foot. Maggie Dugan could have gone somewhere, had better competition, could have shown more what she could do, whatever, could have got a bag, but she didn't do that. She loved her school, she stayed lawyer school, that shot her in the foot. So it's like, what are we don't we're not gonna have a chance.

SPEAKER_04

All right, um, but wouldn't they still get like invited to like a camp or something? I have not seen that. I mean, it sucks. Because all I'm thinking is that if you get invited to that camp, show out. Take somebody's spot.

SPEAKER_01

You could show out and it's still not be enough.

SPEAKER_04

I mean, that's true, and you could say that about a lot of people that aren't even in majors either. Like, you get what I'm saying? Yeah. So we say that a lot about some of these girls that have been waived, and I'm like, how they get waived?

SPEAKER_01

Like, what being said, with that being said, when I go look at Well, she Janaya Barker. Mm-hmm. Janaya Barker, Brooklyn Meyer. Based off this season, who had a better season? Obviously, Brooklyn Meyer.

SPEAKER_04

I mean, yeah, she had a better season, but that's an instance where I feel like you could 6'4 versus 6. You could draft Brooklyn Meyer.

SPEAKER_01

So, but and the point that I'm making with that, to the ACES, Becky Hammond's a mid-major. Becky Hammond, mid-major player of the year, Brooklyn Meyer.

SPEAKER_04

Well, she well, she probably she probably said I gave you the award. Damn. Okay. I gave you the award. You know. But I feel like for Janaya Barker, it might be a thing of like, well, she did play on Tennessee. It was a hard year for them. You don't know what's going on.

SPEAKER_01

She but she won them once, though. She get right, she could get right and do good in the league. I so that is true. Yeah, she won them once, she can get right and do something in the league.

SPEAKER_04

What I want to go back to is that Rory, let's go back to Rory real quick. Okay. I'm sorry. No! Rory got drafted by the the Washington Mystics. Yeah. And we talked about this during the live. I don't know the status of Georgia Amore. Right. I haven't seen anything about Georgia Amore. If she's playing this season, um, is she gonna start this season? Not start, but is she gonna be starting out earlier in the season? So I was trying to think, like, who who's been their point guard? Who's been the Washington Mystics point guard since Georgia Amore? Who was it last year? Because for me, I'm thinking that's a great opportunity for Rory.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah.

SPEAKER_04

You know what I'm saying? That's a great opportunity for her because what?

SPEAKER_01

They got, I mean, if you think about it, if you look at it, look like that one's the only little page buzz. I don't, she's not a point guard. I mean, Rory got opportunity because I mean they got they got prosper, they got Cody, they got Cody listed as a Ford, but I she know you know how they say athlete in football? Yeah, Angela is a Ford. Uh so I mean she got opportunity.

SPEAKER_04

She definitely got opportunity. Um, I think the right team drafted her. They could absolutely use her, and I feel like the way the Washington Vincents are going, they're going towards that younger, yeah, younger team anyway. Why not? You know what I mean? So I wouldn't be surprised if they kept Rory, to be honest.

SPEAKER_01

Same. Excuse me, same. But yeah, I'm always gonna fight for the mid-majors. I don't care. I ain't biased often on this show, but I'm biased. I'm biased with that. Because respect it. But um, respect the mid-majors, always. But um, y'all let us know y'all's thoughts about the few things that we talked about. We are looking forward to the WNBA season. We will be doing live watch parties. We're gonna make, we're gonna try our best. SPEAKER_01
